“Dancing with the Hampton Roads Celebrity Stars,” a new fundraising event to benefit local arts groups, will be held August 16th at 7:30 pm at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach. Based on the hit TV show, twenty-four local contestants, made up of business leaders, media celebrities, civic and political leaders and other various professionals with limited or no dance experience will be paired with a professional dancer/choreographer to perform before a live audience and professional judges.
The City of Virginia Beach, The Ramon Breeden Foundation, WVEC TV, 94.9 The Point, 101.3, Z104, Kiss 92, Now 105, Movin 107.7, 103 Jamz and 95-7 R&B are just a few of the Sponsors. Several Neptune Kings will provide the Opening Number choreographed by Golden Slippers Dance Academy. All proceeds from the event will benefit local arts groups, including Virginia Musical Theater, The Governors School for the Arts and the Virginia Symphony.
The producer of “Dancing with the Hampton Roads Celebrity Stars” is local entrepreneur Barbara Lewis, owner of the Town Center City Club, and will be directed by Susan Browney, choreographer and owner of Golden Slippers Dance Academy’s. Local TV personality Joe Flanagan will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale for a $50.00 tax-deductable donation and are available on the new website www.hrcelebritystars.com and from the Contestants and local ballroom Studios.
