RACHEL BELLIS; COMMUNITY LIASON FOR PETA INTERVIEW

Rachel Bellis, Community Liason, from PETA came to the studio to share some positive information about PETA.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters.

PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals.

PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Thousands of dogs enter animal shelters every year and many of those dogs never find new homes. Whether the dogs needed a little more training and/or socialization, were sick and needed medical care, or just ran out of time in a crowded facility... these dogs need more help. With many years of experience in animal rescue, Jessica Wilde and Tiffany Gray united to form this organization to help as many of these dogs in need as possible.

The K9 Justice League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2008 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It is owned and operated by it's founders Jessica Wilde and Tiffany Gray. The K9 Justice League works locally and in surrounding areas rescuing and re-homing dogs in need. An amazing group of dedicated friends, family, and volunteers help with keeping this rescue up and running.

Currently the K9 Justice League dog rescue is 100% foster home based, meaning all of our rescued dogs live in home environments while they are waiting for their forever homes. Information on all of our current rescue dogs is viewable on this website and appointments can be made to meet any of our available dogs. Our future goal is to create a state of the art facility where all of our rescue dogs can receive all of the attention and care they need while also being more accessible to potential adopters.

Every dog that enters our rescue is updated on all vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and kept current on flea and heartworm prevention. During their stay with us, all dogs receive training with house manners, socialization, and basic obedience. We screen all adopting families to ensure a perfect permanent placement.

Founders Jessica Wilde and Tiffany Gray can be reached most readily by email: K9JusticeLeague@gmail.com

Southeast German Shepherd Rescue: CHANCE MEDICAL PROGRAM

This Sunday JULY 26, 2015 SOUTHEAST GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE: CHANCE MEDICAL FUND will be featured on HAMPTON ROADS PERSPECTIVES with Ashley from the Z MORNING ZOO

Z104: 6:30 AM
94.9: 7:00 AM
101.3: 6:00 AM
95-7 : 7:30 AM

Chance Medical Fund
The Chance Medical fund helps GSDs with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. It supports the medical care needed to get each dog back to a healthy, happy state before they make them available for adoption.

SGSR needs your help! They are a 501(c)(3) with willing hearts, ready hands, open homes and years of experience but it takes money to put dreams into action. Please consider joining their pack and helping to make a difference in a foster dog’s life.

This week Heather Duggan brought Miles, a GSD who benefits from the CHANCE MEDICAL FUND.

Miles joined the Southeast German Shepherd Rescue family on February, 19, 2015, after being rescued from a high-kill shelter.  He had been picked up as a stray, and we just can’t imagine how this sweet, eight-year-old ended up in such dire straits.  Miles came to us with such severe Demodex mange and skin infections that blood was literally dripping from various parts of his body.  The mange was so bad on his paws that he could barely walk.  He was also emaciated and had an upper respiratory infection.  Funds from the Chance Medical Fund enabled his caregivers to get immediate and ongoing medical care for him, including diagnostic testing, medication, special food and even medicated shampoo.  Our vet estimated that it would take six months for Miles to heal, and he is now five months into treatment.  He still has a few small, bald patches, but he looks amazing, and there is no reason that Miles will not fully recover.  He is safe, happy and loved.  His last skin scrape was negative, and after one more negative scrape and a neuter, Miles will be ready for his “forever” home with a family who will cherish him for the rest of his life.  Without programs like SGSR’s Chance Medical Fund, Miles would likely have been euthanized in that shelter, with no chance to experience what every dog deserves…a secure future with a loving family.

Every donation makes a huge difference in the fight to rescue and rehabilitate these beautiful animals, whether by supplying regular meals after starvation, providing routine medical care and/or basic training. Thanks to the generosity of the donors, Southeast German Shepherd Rescue is empowering people to make a difference by changing lives one GSD at a time! To date their fans and volunteers have saved over 1,600 German Shepherds from abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

Ready to Donate?

All donations are fully tax deductible and every dollar changes the life of a German Shepherd in need.

Hope for Life Rescue, a non-profit rescue organization, provides a safe temporary home environment for these precious animals until they are adopted by their forever family!

They rescue abandoned, neglected and abused street animals and give them medical treatment, shelter and the love and care they
deserve and work towards finding them the right forever home. They tend to take the worst of the worst, resulting in an average vet bill of $100,000 annually. They believe that every animal deserves a chance, not just the healthy ones.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE: If you are interesting in adopting a dog or cat from Hope For Life Rescue please stop by to visit our animals and fill out an adoption application, or go online at www.hopeforliferescue.comunder the Adoptions Tab and email the application back to us. We will need two references, only one can be a family member. We will review your application and your references and make a decision as to whether to approve the application or not. Please note that we try and find the best home availiabe for our cats and dogs since they have had such a tough start to life. We do not have a set "fee" for adoptions as we do not feel you can put a price on an animals life. We take donations for the adoptions, most people donate $150 or more. All the pets we adopt out will be neutered/spayed and UTD on all shots when you adopt them, therefore your basic veternarian expenses are taken care of.
