Nobody won the Powerball drawing on Saturday, so the jackpot's up to $425 MILLION DOLLARS (or $278 million if you take the lump sum). But your chances of winning it are about one in 175 million. HERE are four crazy things that are more likely:
1) Hitting a Deer in Hawaii. According to a 2011 study by State Farm, it's the state where you're LEAST likely to do it. Obviously you'd have to BE there first, but the odds are about one in 6,000.
2) Dying from a Bee Sting. Your chances are about one in six million, and your chances of dying from a LIGHTNING STRIKE are about one in three million.
--But your chances of just being struck by lightning are a lot higher. If you live to be 80, you have about a one in 10,000 chance of it happening at some point in your life, according to the National Weather Service.
3) Getting Attacked by a Shark. Your odds are about one in 11.5 million. But the odds of dying for ANY reason at the beach are about one in two million.
4) Making a Hole in One. For an average amateur golfer, the odds are about one in 13,000. (--But if you STINK, then obviously the odds are a lot worse.)
--Your chances of getting two BACK-TO-BACK holes are about one in 156 million... which is STILL slightly better than your odds for winning the Powerball jackpot.
