Beer glass that stops drinkers using mobile phones launched in Brazil
The Offline Glass developed by a Brazilian advertising agency promises to end the scourge
of drinkers eschewing the company of their friends in favour of some quality time with their
The ingeniously simple Offline Glass features a large indent in its base which means it will only stand
upright when supported by a mobile phone.
The glass, designed by advertising agency Fischer & Friends, was unveiled at the Salve Jorge bar in
Sao Paolo. Hopes are high that the glass will give drinkers little chance but to ignore their phones in
favour of their companions.
Flavius Cinira, one of the owners of the bar, said: "The spirit of Salve Jorge is to bring together
friends and everyday warriors, as we used to say, in a happy environment around good food and cold
Wanderley Romano, co-owner, added: "The Offline Glass embodies this exactly. It is an invitation for
people to come here, after the daily battle, turn off the online world, chat with friends and live in the
reality around them, at least for a few hours."
